Job Scope
The Supply Chain Director is responsible for managing the daily and long-term strategy of the Immunodiagnostics business in the USA to ensure availability of products to customers while maintaining a pre-stablished level of service and spending budget. This role will operate in close connection with the Global Supply Chain Immuno department based at the Italian headquarters

This highly skilled professional should have the ability to execute a longer-term strategy to optimize our supply chain processes, while also being excited to dig into immediate tactical needs.

Position will be reporting to the VP Operations USA, with dotted line reporting (linear) to the VP Global Supply Chain.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities 
  • Supervise areas spanning Customer Service, Buyers, Planners, Trade Compliance, Receiving, Inventory Material Handling, Shipping and Transportation Logistics, totaling 25 team members
  • Establish the Supply Chain strategy to ensure customer satisfaction and achieve business objectives.
  • Develop / improve systems to monitor and trend KPI (Key Performance Indicators) data.
  • Encourage and coach employees to develop more efficient ways to work
  • Gather data and research internal and external sources
  • Communicate within org and upwards to ensure regular awareness to key information
  • Recommend, develop and implement plans that support the achievement of the strategic business operations of the company.
  • Develop systems and processes and show ability to integrate them into the business operations in such a way that they positively impact our business objectives.
  • Work across departments/groups to assure that mutually dependent business strategies are integrated so that planning is coordinated and cohesive effort is allowed.
  • Proactively maximize resources (time, materials, effort) and work to identify ineffective systems and provide the leadership for improvement.
  • Participate in the financial planning process through involvement in budgeting capital analyses and continuous improvement in our EVA process.
  • Educate group leaders and team members so that they understand the financial objectives and guide them in understanding their role in meeting these objectives.
  • Monitor variable usage and review outlying items to look for continuous improvement and trends.
  • Works with the technical operations groups to assure that the reporting and tracking of inventory usage is reported accurately to the system with the goal of insuring the integrity of the physical inventory in support of the company’s financial interests.
  • Select, develop and train employees to assure optimum motivation, skill set and retention of staff.
  • Conduct coaching sessions on a regular basis with staff to discern their work, their progress on defined goals, their strengths and opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare and conduct the performance assessment delivering a candid and respectful discussion about results. Perform review process according to corporate guidelines and complete on a timely basis.
  • Provide training and development to employees to assure their continual growth in the acquisition and demonstration of needed skills, knowledge and abilities.
  • Strategically identify characteristics and skill sets needed in future staff additions.
  • Recruit and select employees for open positions, achieving a balance between position/role requirements and the individual skills, knowledge and abilities of employees.
  • Establish and communicate responsibilities and expectations to employees to assure mutual understanding of results expected.
  • Participate in the development and delivery of internal training programs.
  • Formally and informally lead training of other in areas of competencies where appropriate.
  • Participate in formal and informal training required to increase skills.
  • Develop leadership competencies and foster an environment resulting in a motivated, positive, knowledgeable and accountable support group.
  • Promote open channels of communication throughout the organization through continual thoughtful and open communications.
  • Actively participate in team meetings and acts as a resource to the group.
  • Actively facilitate in sharing of information across the organization in a way that results in good coordination of actions, decisions and continuous improvement
  • Promote through interactions an environment that supports trusting relationships and ethical leadership.
  • Perform work in a safe manner consistent with DiaSorin’s health, safety and environmental policies and assume responsibility for personal safety and that of co-workers to result in a safe work environment for all employees and the protection of the environment and the community at large.
  • Ensure that direct reports are acting in a manner that consistently demonstrates compliance with DiaSorin’s established health, safety, and environmental policies including the use of PPE, attending EHS training and following appropriate safety precautions. Document and discuss violations with direct report.
  • Actively participate in and support efforts to improve the safety of the workplace (i.e. incident reporting, conducting safety audits, attending safety committee meetings, etc.)
  • Follow DiaSorin’s established compliance procedures designed to ensure that all regulatory requirements are met; activities may include audits, documentation, and the understanding of the requirements of agencies such as OSHA, EPA, NRC and FDA.

 

Education, Experience and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain management or Business-related field required and
  • Master's Degree in advanced area of study, science, engineering or business required
  • 10+ Years of progressive management experience in supply chain in the IVD, medical devices or pharma sectors. required
  • Possible alternative experiences can include food industry and fashion required
  • Inventory Planning Experience required
  • Inbound/Outbound logistics experience (relationship management with national/international shippers and 3PL’s) required
  • Prior experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred) required
  • Lean or Six Sigma experience and certification desired preferred

  • Strong analytical thinker and problem-solving ability to diagnose problems, resolve key issues and implement corrective actions with a keen sense of customer focus
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, demanding environment
  • Ability to work efficiently and handle multiple projects and tasks concurrently
  • Ability to influence all levels of staff, including executives
  • Knowledge and understanding of FDA, IVD(EU) and ISO standards
  • Skill at preparing and presenting written materials such as reports, presentations and proposals
  • Ability to utilize financial reports to develop budgets, analyze expenditures versus budgets and to implement cost control measures
  • Ability to initiate and implement policy, systems, and practices in managing people which enhance retention, motivation, reward, coaching, direction, development and separation.
  • Ability to give authority and/or autonomy of decision making and action taking to others to better distribute work activities or to develop staff
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel

Licenses and Certifications
  • APICS™ or Institute for Supply Management™ (ISM) credential preferred

Travel Requirements
  • Occasional domestic and international travel is required (< 3 times per year)
