Job Scope
The Manufacturing Engineering Technician, Instruments will be responsible for:
• The assembly, integration of mechanical, fluidic, electronic, optical, electro-mechanical systems and plastic and liquid mechanical systems.
• Delivering manufacturing requirements against production or project schedules within a focused manufacturing operation.
• System integration testing and troubleshooting for all products in support of quality manufacturing production are typical day- to- day requirements.
• Product knowledge, documentation transfer, training and inert-departmental communication also required.
• Performing assigned tasks that utilize their interdisciplinary skills to perform integration troubleshooting and assigned service tasks.
• Calibration and maintenance of all test fixtures, tools and manufacturing aides. Product knowledge, documentation transfer and departmental communication.
• Performing assigned tasks with minimal oversight and utilize their interdisciplinary skills to perform independent development, troubleshooting and field service tasks.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with technicians and manufacturing engineers daily in support of integration testing, manual instruction development and production process development. All to support a quality process.
- Coordinate with other technicians daily in support of integration testing, manual instruction development and production process development. All to support a quality process and product.
- Test and troubleshoot systems and test fixtures and provide feedback to engineers.
- Test new hardware and software during development and/or validation.
- Install, troubleshoot and service manufacturing test fixtures and aides on and off site
- Design new test fixtures as needed.
- Work from documented procedures and maintain quality data establish an effective working partnership with other Luminex departments to promote effective communication and transfer knowledge/experience to others.
- Maintain personal compliance and facilitate departmental compliance with the Quality System.
- Adhere to safety, disposal, and gowning requirements (gowning as required by area).
- Understand change control process and implement necessary changes.
- Perform other duties as deemed necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications
- Associate's Degree Associate degree in electrical engineering, electronics or mechanical discipline required
- 6+ Years Experience in electro-mechanical assembly/test manufacturing. required
- 3+ Years Experience in Soldering. preferred
- Familiarity with ISO 13485 and FDA Quality System requirements desired.
- Familiarity with Enterprise Manufacturing systems such as Oracle or SAP desired.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle the pressure of meeting tight deadlines and adapting to rapidly changing priorities.
- High electrical and mechanical aptitude.
- Well-developed problem solving/troubleshooting skills.
- The ability to organize work in an efficient manner, in addition to the ability to work well under stress and time pressures.
- Proficiency with electronic, optical and biological test equipment.
- Ability to read and understand electrical, mechanical and hydraulic schematic diagrams.
- Well-developed communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency with the appropriate CAD software according to discipline.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
