Job Posting

The Manufacturing Test Engineer, Level II will be responsible for executing hands-on testing, troubleshooting, and validation of complex electro-mechanical medical devices to support high-quality manufacturing operations. This role requires a strong background in electrical engineering, a high level of proficiency with test and measurement equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators), and a commitment to product reliability and regulatory compliance in an FDA- and ISO 13485-regulated environment. Key responsibilities include supporting final test and release, leading root cause investigations, developing test fixtures and protocols, and collaborating across engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure scalable, high-performance production.

Success in this role will be measured by timely resolution of test failures, reduction in recurring test issues, and the accuracy and completeness of final product releases. Additional metrics include the successful execution of validation protocols, improved test system uptime, and positive feedback from cross-functional stakeholders on the engineer’s ability to support floor operations and mentor junior staff.

What you will do

  • Serve as the go-to expert for hands-on testing and troubleshooting of complex electro-mechanical systems in a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Perform in-depth root cause analysis on test failures using oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, and other diagnostic and measurement equipment.
  • Develop and execute robust test strategies for subassemblies and final products, ensuring compliance with FDA and ISO 13485 standards.
  • Design and deploy test setups and custom test fixtures for electrical, embedded, and mechanical systems; automate where appropriate.
  • Provide rapid response to issues on the manufacturing floor, including test station setup, equipment debugging, calibration, and process optimization.
  • Maintain and improve test documentation including protocols, traceability records, pass/fail criteria, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Collaborate with R&D and software teams to test and validate new hardware and software prior to production release.
  • Lead by example in promoting safety, quality, and adherence to GMP.
  • Assist with the design and validation of test equipment in collaboration with automation and controls engineers.

Education, Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing or test engineering; medical device experience preferred
  • Deep experience using test and measurement tools including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, signal generators, and multimeters.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot down to component level across electrical, mechanical, and microfluidic systems.
  • Skilled in interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams, and fluidic layouts.
  • Experience with final product testing, including imaging systems, embedded firmware interfaces, and electromechanical integration.
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or similar problem-solving methodologies.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic data analysis tools (Excel, Minitab, etc.).
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills; able to clearly communicate findings and corrective actions.
  • Proactive, hands-on mindset with strong ownership of system performance and continuous improvement.
