Job Scope

  • Leading sales for Luminex Corporation's Partnership Business group in the Northeast or Boston surrounding area.
  • Reporting to the Senior Sales Manager and has commercial sales responsibility for direct & partner business.
  • Strategic development of Luminex's existing partner relationships in Life Science Research & Diagnostics.
  • Leading and executing regional strategies and tactics, and will collaborate with global product marketing, regional marketing, partner management, and other functional teams for the purposes of exceeding customer expectations and increasing the adoption of Luminex products and solutions.
  • Being field-based for direct contact with customers & partners.
  • Executing a number of key initiatives associated with Luminex products that are intended for use in life science research laboratories.
  • A commitment to field travel in order to understand customer needs and to deliver solutions.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Direct Sales Management
    • Execution and management of opportunities requiring the direct acquisition of products from Luminex.
    • Develop strategic plans and forecasts to ensure consistent achievement of revenue goals.
    • Manage internal resources to ensure tactical execution of direct purchase opportunities.
    • Conduct sales calls daily to close opportunities, generate leads, and move sales processes forward.
    • Responsible for sales activities around, proposals, quotations, agreements, forecasting, product demonstrations, trade shows and educational symposiums as needed for assigned region.
    • Responsible for managing sales activates in Salesforce.com
  • Distributor/Partner Sales Management
    • Act as Luminex relationship liaison and manage the Company’s existing relationships with Luminex’s Partners in the field to drive instrument placements and end user kit sales.
    • Engage in negotiation of agreements with assigned existing Partners (i.e. renewals, amendments) and determination and execution of optimal acquisition terms.
    • Develop strategic revenue plans with Luminex Partners to drive commercial execution and customer satisfaction.
  • Relationship Management
    • Ownership of managing and developing strategic relationships within assigned Luminex’s partners and customers to foster long-term alliances capable of addressing ambiguities and dynamic business challenges.
    • Coordinating partners and internal resources to deliver on expansion / growth strategies ensuring alignment with corporate and departmental strategic planning.
    • Planning and executing on regularly scheduled business and operational reviews with defined partners.
    • Effectively providing management with channel performance visibility while driving internal risk mitigation.
  • Strategic Planning and Assessment
    • Assessment of strategic partner landscape, competitive threats, technologies, emerging trends, determination of gaps, options and recommendations.
    • Stay on top of industry trends, attend high-value conferences and seminars, and otherwise maintain a strong knowledge base of developments in the Life Science Research industry and for strategic partners in Life Science Research.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Education, Experience, and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Life Science or Business and at least three years equivalent experience, preferably in Pharma and/or Life Science Research Company
  • Master's of Science Degree or MBA preferred
  • 3+ Years Demonstrated management skills, including history of product launch planning and effective channel integration.
  • 3+ Years Exhibited strong territory management skills.
  • 3+ Years Excellent negotiation skills and an ability to effectively manage and leverage multiple relationships in parallel.
  • 3+ Years Experience with building business plans and strategic approach for territory management, opportunity assessment (valuation), determination of implications and recommendation of options based on analysis.
  • 3+ Years Strong communication and presentation skills, with ability to effectively and persuasively articulate issues or opportunities to internal and external parties.
  • 3+ Years Network of executive-level contacts within the Pharma and/or Life Science Research community preferred.
  • 3+ Years Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining business / channel relationships preferred.
  • 3+ Years Excellent presence with customers – a solid and professional advocate for the company, excellent communicator, ability to effectively manage and overcome objections, able to distill issues down to key salient points, solution-focused.
  • Demonstrated track record of success – able to formulate definitive action plans, effectively execute and measure progress against the plan, ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
