Job Scope
The Sr. Director, LTG Scientific Solutions reports into the Vice President, Licensed Technologies Group and is a key member of the LTG global leadership team. This person is the LTG scientific liaison and scientific advisor to multiple departments within Luminex, Partner Management, LTG global commercial organization and leads xPLORE lab and its strategic direction. This person assists in revenue growth and the overall partner, and customer experience for LTG.
This person will engage directly with Luminex Partners, our Partners' end users, and the Luminex direct customers utilizing xMAP® and xTAG® technology. This leadership position is responsible for effectively delivering field-based, scientific customer education and services regarding Luminex's xMAP® and xTAG® technology. Responsibilities include the development, execution, and managing the evolution of the xMAP® and xTAG® scientific strategy and LumienxPLORE Lab strategic services.
LuminexPLORE Custom Assay Service Program is designed to deliver xMAP customer needs for commercially available services, with proficiency of Luminex technology and equipment, to perform proof of concept and feasibility testing. This strategy primarily serves the biopharma pre-clinical, research use market segments of vaccine development and drug therapy. Customers and potential customers include small to large biopharma companies such as, Takeda, Merck, Moderna, and Abbvie. Additionally, xPLORE serves rapidly growing and emerging mutli-omic companies who utilize both proteomic and genomic platforms for algorithmic diagnostic testing. LTG has demonstrated that this service model not only generates direct revenue, but it builds end-user confidence and buy-into the Luminex ecosystem of chemistries and platforms.
This person leads and manages all aspects of the LTG Field Application Specialist, FAS team, who effectively manage all aspects of delivering scientific applications and technology training associated with Luminex systems, software, assay development, and on-site troubleshooting related to xMAP® and xTAG® technology. The FASs are responsible for customer-facing technical and scientific assistance with our technology.
This position leads all scientist-to-scientist collaboration to advance customers' and partners' success in applying Luminex's xMAP technology to achieve market development objectives. The team delivers scientific applications and technology training associated with Luminex xMAP Technology, including custom assay development and on-site troubleshooting of hardware and software in research and some diagnostics environments. Leads the team to maintain knowledge of the latest scientific uses of Luminex's xMAP Technology, including current and new partner products and application to laboratory-developed tests documented in the public domain.
Sr. Director, LTG Scientific Solutions will collaborate with LTG Sales and Marketing leadership to create and deliver effective field-based communications that are aligned with organizational goals to improve customer relationships and achieve revenue growth for Luminex shareholders.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction to internal collaborator(s) with responsibilities for partner, segment, and channel marketing responsibilities.
- Develop the strategies and manage the Marketing programs that drive demand for Luminex technologies in LTG Global Sales, Marketing, and revenue goals
- Identify and promote new applications that have significant sales potential. Develop customer segmentation, product positioning and messaging that differentiates Luminex technologies from competing technologies
- Develop and deliver the right message to appropriate customer segments for Luminex technology applications using the appropriate Global Sales and Marketing channels
- Maintain alignment with Sales leadership to ensure that the Sales groups are properly oriented to successfully promote Luminex technologies, partner content, and to secure business with current and prospective customers
- Drive lead generation and conversion by helping customers find the information they need to make informed buying decisions, utilizing innovative content creation and distribution tactics.
- Organize, facilitate and attend key scientific symposia to increase customer awareness and knowledge, as well as increasing personal knowledge of biotechnology and life science markets.
- Ensure development and execution of Marketing materials (content) described in Marketing Plans takes place according to the annual Marketing Plan including, but not limited to: collateral, sales tools, flyers, application notes, whitepapers, case studies, customer testimonials, emails, blogs, SEM, SEO, and web content to drive lead generation and sales
- Monitor competitive activity and produce content that can better position Luminex against competitors
- Assist in identifying and managing key opinion leaders who can help promote Luminex technologies
- Manage time and expenses in alignment with business priorities
- Lead and/or contribute to other initiatives and programs as identified, given Luminex’s fast-paced and high-growth environment
- Recruit and train a top tier FAS organization worldwide that will drive the success of the Company
- Lead and develop a team of Field Applications Specialists with a principal goal of proliferating our technology through quality training programs, lasting relationships, and a commitment to help customers obtain their goals in a regulatory-compliant manner.
- Champion projects that collaborate cross-functionally with all departments at Luminex to align business processes and communications that benefit customers and keep the customers’ interests and the corporate interests well balanced.
- Manage and drive the delivery of training and education for new and existing customers on software, instrumentation, maintenance, troubleshooting, assay kits, assay design, development for Luminex Products including applications in immunoassay (protein), and nucleic acid detection.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications
- Master's Degree in the Life Sciences and 8-10 years related experience and/or training required
- Ph.D. preferred
- Master's Degree MBA or formal Marketing training or certification is a plus preferred
- 8+ Years relevant work experience required
- 3+ Years Marketing experience in the Life Sciences, Clinical Diagnostics, or Medical Devices industry required
- 1+ Years Sales experience preferred in capital sales, life science research, or clinical diagnostics required
- 1+ Years Strong understanding of both immunoassay and nucleic acid analysis technologies and methodologies required
- 1+ Years Experience working independently in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities required
- 1+ Years Sales background or experience is a plus preferred
- Detailed knowledge of the internet and social media venues
- Experience with CRM (SalesForce.com) and marketing automation platforms (e.g., HubSpot, etc.)
- Highly organized with proven time management and prioritization skills
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
- Ability to work collaboratively with various teams to achieve the organizational goals
- Ability to handle the pressure of meeting tight deadlines
- Self-starter with proven record of continual learning and growth

Travel Requirements
- 20% Domestic, international travel may be necessary
