Job Scope
This Senior HR Business Partner role will provide support to all North America R&D teams, including:
- Assay R&D
- SD&I (Systems Development and Integration)
- Advanced Technology Group & Chemistry R&D
- Immuno R&D
In this role, you will act as the trusted advisor and strategic human capital consultant to the leadership of these teams by understanding their functional plans, organizational priorities tied to long-term plans or business strategies, coaching them for success, designing and executing key strategic initiatives to support and enable business/functional success, and ensuring high-level delivery of HR programs, processes, and services.
The Senior HR Business Partner will work closely with management in the implementation of corporate policies, programs and initiatives related to human resources, organizational and employee development. You will consult with managers to address root causes of human resources issues, attempting to resolve employee relations issues with a systematic approach. You will participate in company-wide programs and initiatives (e.g., salary review, equity program cycle, workforce planning, and organizational change). You will assist senior management in the development of solutions through organizational development and cultural and process-oriented perspectives. You will take a leadership role in administering talent management and succession planning activity within client organization. Key skills and abilities include coaching, influencing, facilitation, presentation, communication, process development, analysis and problem solving.
The role will also work closely with key COE partners, the new HR shared services team, and other functional colleagues across the Diasorin matrix, to support the execution of HR strategies across these critical functions and to ensure full compliance with process/policy adherence.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Providing HR consulting and thought leadership through effective partnership with R&D leaders. Ensure effective human capital solutions are in place to meet their business needs.
- Leading multiple HR programs & projects across your client groups, many of which require alignment and coordination with other members of the HR team.
- Diagnosis, creation, and execution of organizational design and development programs. Conduct organizational assessments, identify both process and capability needs, issues and concerns, and work in partnership with business and functional leaders to develop and implement appropriate solutions.
- Leverage HR Centers of Excellence and other corporate teams to address and satisfy the strategic human capital needs of the business.
- Lead workforce planning efforts across your client groups, supporting leaders as they identify the capability and resourcing needs required to meet business objectives.
- Work with Talent Acquisition team to develop and implement appropriate sourcing, selection and hiring strategies for near- and long-term function/business success. Partner with business and TA team to ensure a strong value proposition & employment branding in place and relevant to attracting R&D and innovation talent.
- Introduce, lead and influence change management initiatives to address issues that will enhance overall performance and build the overall human capital capability of the organization.
- Responsible for talent review & succession planning process and implementation of action plans across your client groups. Identification of development opportunities to ensure diverse, succession ready bench and development of high potentials.
- Conducting gap analysis and collaborating with Talent Management to ensure appropriate career development programs and initiatives are aligned with critical skill development for the functions and groups.
- Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise. Adapts style and uses persuasion in delivering messages that relate to the wider firm business. Frequently advises others on complex matters.
- Understands the interrelationships of different disciplines. Directs the application of existing principles and guides development of new policies and ideas.
- Coaching and consulting with senior leaders on issues affecting culture, engagement, performance, productivity, and development, helping to determine root causes and recommend appropriate strategies.
- Coordinating and driving the annual performance and compensation review process across your client groups.
- Ensure effective consultation to business and function leaders on management of labor costs.
- Playing a very active role on the North America HR team, contributing, and supporting region-wide HR initiatives and on occasion, representing the R&D functions on various global and company-wide projects
- Understands and works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Determines methods and procedures on new assignments.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, business, or a related field of study is required; Master’s degree is a plus.
- 8+ years’ experience in a progressive Human Resources organization or relevant business environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- SHRM/HRCI certification preferred.
- HR experience supporting R&D (product development, biomolecular research, scientific affairs), engineering (HW, SW, SI), and innovation functions and organizations.
- Comfortable working in a matrixed, growth-oriented corporate environment. Ability to work in a matrixed HR model – influencing and partnering with COE and HR operational partners and HR shared services.
- Demonstrated ability to deal with highly complex business challenges, both urgent short-term issues and long-term strategic items in the highly competitive medical device sales ecosystem
- Sound HR judgement with ability to advise business leaders and help them find solutions in all areas of HR – Talent Acquisition, Talent Development, Talent Analytics & Insights, Employee Relations, Compensation, Culture & Engagement.
- Strong execution skills. Able to work with a fast-paced, high pressure, and dynamic client group.
- Experience with developing and implementing talent management strategies, running succession planning and talent review meetings, following up as needed on individual actions.
- Strong commitment to defining and delivering diversity and inclusion strategies.
