Main Purpose:

 

The Manufacturing and QC Manager will lead the operations function within budget and output targets to meet customer requirements and standards. This role will be fundamental to the successful growth of the site, achieved by driving strong collaboration and communication across all areas of the business. Your leadership will inspire engagement, enhance operational efficiency, and create sustainable value across all business functions.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Effectively and efficiently manage the production of the required targets in line with customer specifications, meeting quality and delivery expectations, minimising costs where possible and ensure the required best working practices are maintained at all times
  • Responsible for plant production, financial performance, meeting customer requirements and maintaining the orderly and productive operation of planned activities
  • Communicate and liaise with other departmental managers regarding all aspects of the operation to ensure production targets are met
  • Develop and implement systems, tools, and strategies aligned with business goals and improvement targets to drive a culture of excellence
  • Lead process improvement initiatives that eliminate waste, streamline operations, and enhance value for customers while engaging teams at all levels
  • Ensure the team undertake continuous training and development and perform root cause analysis and resolve problems if and when they occur
  • Identify and deploy the technical skill sets, resource levels and systems to deliver projects, including the engagement of external resources as required
  • Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks in the department to ensure that the function operates in accordance with any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors

 

People Management:

 

  • Motivate and coach the team to deliver operational success and provide technical expertise when needed
  • Champion collaboration, innovation, and customer focus, ensuring that all activities reflect and reinforce our core values and operating principles
  • Design and deliver tailored training programs to inspire and enable employees to adopt continuous improvement practices and mindsets.
  • Develop reporting mechanisms to monitor progress against key performance (KPIs) and key behavioural indicators (KBIs), celebrating milestones and refining approaches

 

Financial and Budget Control:

 

  • Overall and owner / responsibility for operations budgets;
  • Prepare the annual operations budget and forecasts and all Capital Expenditure proposals as well as ensuring compliance with legal standards.
  • Manage the budget from identification to completion of projects;

 

Relationship Management:

 

  • Significant experience in building organisational capabilities, including establishing a clear strategic vision, direction and translating into successful outcomes for operations
  • Work as part of the Leadership team to share ideas and improve operations, recommending, supporting and implementing continuous improvement activities and process and procedure improvements to optimise results and improve quality of delivery, in line with quality standards requirements delivery in line with Company and Customer requirements;
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance;
  • Ensure an effective interface with other departmental staff is maintained;
  • Liaise and communicate with other departments, customers, suppliers (when needed) and other service providers;
  • Work collaboratively, negotiate and engage with key stakeholders to facilitate delivery and compliance with the purchasing strategy;
  • Contribute to new business initiatives and projects and review and communicate the impact on operations activities

 

Skill Requirements:

 

  • Excellent people management and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage a variety of cross-functional team members
  • Proven expertise in lean methodologies and operational excellence
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Competent in problem solving, team building, planning and decision making
  • Line-management experience is essential
  • Demonstrates track record of standard cost and productivity improvement
  • Commercial and financial acumen
  • Knowledge of ISO 13485 and 21 CFR part 820 desirable .
