Job Scope: The Sr. Manager, Maintenance and Facilities will oversee both equipment maintenance and facilities management to ensure optimal performance of all systems used in manufacturing, research, development, and commercial operations. This role provides guidance and leadership to both maintenance and facilities teams, ensuring that all systems, equipment, and physical infrastructure support production and comply with regulatory standards. The manager will also lead improvement and upgrade projects, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and safety across operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintenance Operations:
- Ensure preventive and corrective maintenance programs for all equipment, including manufacturing machinery, HVAC, and other critical systems (e.g., DI water systems, lyophilizers, fume hoods).
- Lead troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues related to equipment performance.
- Oversee life cycle management of equipment, including qualification protocols (IQ, OQ, PQ).
- Investigate and resolve out-of-tolerance conditions on critical systems, ensuring documented corrective actions.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to support equipment upgrades, expansions, and repairs.
- Facilities Management:
- Manage facility modifications, expansions, and upgrades, including oversight of contractors and subcontractors.
- Oversee building automation, security systems, janitorial, grounds, and safety services.
- Ensure facilities infrastructure supports all operational needs while adhering to budget and timelines.
- Manage contracts for external service providers such as pest control, waste management, and snow removal.
- Lead projects to optimize cost and service levels for utilities, maintenance, and vendor management.
- Project Management:
- Lead large-scale facility and equipment projects, from planning and design through execution and final qualification.
- Develop project bids, specifications, and drawings, and coordinate with relevant teams to ensure all stakeholders are aligned.
- Provide ongoing updates to leadership on project progress, risks, and modifications.
- Leadership and Team Management:
- Lead the combined facilities and maintenance teams in achieving operational goals.
- Oversee project planning and execution related to facilities and equipment, including cost, scope, and timeline management.
- Develop team members' skills and ensure cross-functional training for optimal efficiency.
- Collaborate with EHS and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and safety protocols.
- Manage regulatory compliance with FDA GMP standards across both equipment and facility systems.
- Provide 24/7 support for emergency situations involving facility and equipment.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Technology, or a related technical field (refrigeration, electrical engineering, electro-mechanical).
- 7+ years of experience in facility and equipment management in regulated industries (medical devices, pharmaceuticals).
- 5+ years of leadership experience in managing teams across both maintenance and facilities functions.
- Experience in project management within GMP environments (Pharma/Biotech/Medical Device).
- Strong leadership and cross-functional team management skills.
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems as well as building automation.
- Expertise in troubleshooting equipment issues and implementing preventive maintenance programs.
- Ability to manage both large-scale facility projects and detailed equipment maintenance.
- Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, and Google Suite.
- Demonstrated business acumen and the ability to present to various stakeholders.
- Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, efficiently works under pressure, within deadlines or other time essential constraints
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to clearly and concisely communicate to all levels of the organization
- Strong work ethic and an ability to excel within a rapidly changing and growing organization
What we Offer
Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $115,000.00-$155,000.00 annually. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. Beyond base salary, Diasorin offers a competitive rewards package focused on your overall well-being.
