Job Scope
The Junior Category Specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring operational excellence within our company, significantly contributing to our mission of providing innovative solutions in the LifeScience sector.
The Junior Category Specialist will be strategic in developing and implementing innovative sourcing strategies to optimize costs and ensure the highest quality and compliance of laboratory consumables and packaging. In the highly regulated life science industry, they will collaborate closely with internal functions (R&D, production, quality) and international suppliers to strengthen the company's global supply chain, ensuring operational continuity and identifying new opportunities presented by emerging technologies in the consumables sector.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Performes experimental testing activities for the verification and validation of the clinical performance of newly developed immunodiagnostic products or existing products.
- Performs experimental testing on competitor products for the characterization of clinical samples and performance comparisons. Sourcing and Selection of Qualified Suppliers: Identify and evaluate suppliers specializing in laboratory consumables and packaging, with a particular focus on quality, regulatory compliance (ISO, GMP), and the ability to provide customized products.
- Contract Negotiation: Negotiate contracts that include specific clauses for consumables, such as quality guarantees, delivery times, minimum order quantities, and favorable payment terms.
- Supply Chain Optimization: Identify opportunities to reduce transportation costs, improve delivery times, and optimize inventory management.
- Risk Management: Identify and assess risks associated with the procurement of consumables (e.g., supply chain disruptions, price fluctuations, quality issues) and implement mitigation plans.
- Quality Assurance: Collaborate with the Quality department to ensure that purchased consumables meet established requirements and manage any non-conformities.
- Development of Strategic Supplier Relationships: Collaborate with suppliers to improve product quality and ensure continuity of supply.
- Support for Laboratory Activities: Collaborate with laboratory teams to identify specific consumable needs and ensure the availability of necessary materials.
- Market Analysis: Monitor the consumables market to identify new trends, suppliers, and innovation opportunities, with a focus on the sustainability of production processes and logistics.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications
- Master's degree in Economics or Business Administration.
- At least 1 years of relevant experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology sector.
- Fluent in Italian and English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
- Strong understanding of procurement processes, with a particular focus on low-duration materials, inventory management, and inbound logistics.
- Experience using data analysis tools to evaluate supplier performance, material costs, and the environmental impact of products.
- Contract Negotiation: Ability to negotiate contracts that consider factors such as quality, sustainability, and production flexibility.
- Understanding of logistics principles, with a focus on cold chain management for temperature-sensitive materials.
- Ability to manage urgent situations and find quick and effective solutions in case of supply chain disruptions.
- Focus on the needs of internal customers, particularly laboratories and production.
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (purchasing, quality, logistics, production) to ensure operational continuity.
- Ability to achieve ambitious goals in terms of cost reduction and quality improvement.
- Ability to analyze complex data related to material quality, costs, and supplier performance to identify trends and improvement areas, with a particular focus on the environmental impact of products.
- Ability to identify and mitigate risks related to material quality, supply chain continuity, and price variations.
