Job Scope
 

As an Equipment Technician, you will be an administrator and expert of the equipment used in the manufacture of in vitro diagnostic products. In addition, you will drive operational improvement activities that involve equipment procurement, validation, or the transfer of information from equipment.  This is a fast-paced, deadline-driven department that provides centralized support to the organization.

Be a Subject Matter Experts (SME) for equipment and equipment validations to implement changes to business systems and processes, interacting and working collaboratively with teams across Diasorin.

  • Generates equipment specifications, identifies suppliers, and participates in procurement activities including supplier approval, expense planning, facility planning, equipment validation, and user training.
  • Optimize equipment strategies for production yield and cost effectiveness. Assist in project planning and budgeting for implementation.
  • Report progress on tasks and initiatives to management on a regular basis.
  • Share knowledge and train co-workers and new employees.
  • Coordinate process and manual instruction updates.

 

  • This individual will perform complex testing activities to support the use of equipment in the manufacturing laboratories.
    • Constructs, troubleshoots, calibrates, validates, adjusts, tests, diagnoses, and maintains equipment, components, devices, or systems in the manufacturing laboratories. To execute these duties, this position will at times be required to prepare compounds and solutions.
    • Perform job functions under minimum supervision in laboratory, production area, and test environments according to scheduled due dates.
    • Create and modify maintenance procedures by determining preventive maintenance, safety, and lockout/tagout requirements from manufacturer’s manuals, laboratory methods, or process requirements.  
    • Document maintenance actions in an equipment tracking database in compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Adhere to safety, disposal, and gowning requirements (gowning as required by area).

 

Education, Experience and Qualifications

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to be independently mobile
  • Position requires knowledge of IVD technology and judgment in determining work methods, performing tasks / tests and recording data
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience and may require vocational or technical education or advanced certification in addition to prior work experience
  • Must have a high school diploma and associate degree with 6 years of experience in a regulated manufacturing or development laboratory, or a BS in Engineering with 1-2 years of experience
  • Understanding and experience with compliance to ISO, FDA, and other regulatory agencies as well as quality process management and implementation, preferred.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products
  • Solid technical ability, equipment set up, and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent writing and documentation skills for maintenance and validation activities
  • Understanding of process improvement and instruction document routing development, standard manufacturing practices, and workmanship/quality standards and practices
  • Good organizational and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to perform a variety of duties in the electronic, mechanical, and/or electromechanical functions of equipment
  • Experience working from schematics, engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions
  • People skills to understand cultural differences, adapts quickly, and collaborates effectively
